 Terceira Island:
Terceira Island is the second most popular Azores Island. It is located at about 90 miles off Sao Miguel off Faial. Since the Second World War, it features an important American Air Force Base.
Terceira Island is dominated by a large volcanic plateau surrounded by Serra do Cume mountains. Its coast is dotted with numerous cliffs, quaint fishing towns, beaches and lava rocks.
Nature lovers will find a paradise in this Island thanks to its fertile soils. Terceira is the archipelago's main cereals producer.
Angra do Heroismo:
Angra do Heroismo is Terceira's capital. It has been reconstructed after an earthquake in 1980 and classified as a world heritage site by UNESCO. This city has an important private library that shows an interesting private art collection.
